Cayde Accounting & Tax Free 15-min call

About Cayde’s Florida service

Who we are, who does the work, and who signs your returns.

Cayde Accounting & Tax works virtually with Florida C corporations, S corporations and LLCs taxed as corporations that are one to five or more years behind. It rebuilds the books and gets the agreed overdue Form 1120 or 1120-S and Florida filings done; afterwards, optional monthly bookkeeping keeps the books current. Independent U.S. tax professionals review, sign and file the returns. Catch-up projects start at US$2,500 per outstanding year, with a fixed quote in writing first; monthly bookkeeping starts at US$349 a month. The first step is a free 15-minute call.

All prices in U.S. dollars. Taxes, penalties, interest and government fees (such as Sunbiz fees) are separate: your company pays them directly.

Who does what?

The Cayde team does the bookkeeping, prepares the workpapers and coordinates your catch-up. Independent U.S. tax professionals review, sign and file your federal and Florida business returns. Nothing is filed until you’ve approved and signed it.

The Cayde team

Your books, your file, your point of contact

Rebuilds and reconciles the books for each year in your quote, in QuickBooks Online or Xero, prepares the workpapers behind each return, puts anything with a deadline first, and stays your contact from the first call to the final filing. If you choose monthly bookkeeping afterwards, the same team keeps the books current.

Meet the team

Independent U.S. tax professionals

Your returns, reviewed and signed

Your federal and Florida business returns are reviewed, signed and filed by independent U.S. tax professionals after you approve them: e-filed wherever the IRS accepts it, and on paper for older years. Their name and IRS preparer tax ID (PTIN) appear on every return they sign. You sign each return, or its e-file authorization, before it’s filed.

If your company needs a professional to represent it before the IRS, that’s the job of an attorney, a CPA or an enrolled agent. We’ll tell you on the call if your situation needs one and arrange it; it may be a separate engagement.

Your part

A few things only the owner can do. None of them needs a background in bookkeeping or tax.

  • Tell us on the free call what you know is outstanding, and mention any letters.
  • Approve the written proposal. Nothing starts, and nothing is charged, until you do.
  • Send the records on the list, starting with bank and card statements.
  • Answer questions as the books are rebuilt.
  • Approve each return before it’s filed.

How does a virtual catch-up work for Florida?

It runs on records, not office visits. Most books are rebuilt from bank and card statements, which you can download and send from anywhere.

Cayde works with corporations across Florida by phone, video and secure file sharing, Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern, and bills in U.S. dollars.

The filings are U.S. filings: federal Forms 1120 and 1120-S, and the Florida filings that go with them, from the F-1120 to sales tax and the Sunbiz annual report. See how the Florida filings fit into a catch-up

How are your records handled?

On terms you agree to in writing before any work starts. Your books stay in your own software, and nothing is filed without your signature.

Your books stay in your software

You add Cayde as an invited user in QuickBooks Online or Xero, and you can remove that access at any time. If there are no books yet, they’re built in one of the two.

Agreed in writing first

Scope, fixed price, payment terms, the records needed and a timeline are set out in a written proposal. No work begins until you approve it.

Files shared securely

The documents you send during an engagement, from bank statements to IRS letters, are shared securely. Where they’re stored is set out in the privacy notice.

Nothing filed without your signature

Every return waits for your approval and your signature.

Choosing a preparer

The IRS checklist for choosing a preparer, answered

The IRS publishes a short list of things to check before you hire anyone to prepare a return. Here is how each one applies to a Cayde catch-up.

Source: IRS, “Tips to help taxpayers hire a reputable tax preparer”.

  1. The preparer signs the return and includes a PTIN.Every return carries the name and IRS preparer tax ID (PTIN) of the independent U.S. tax professional who signs it.
  2. Avoid fees based on the size of a refund.Your quote is fixed in writing before any work starts. Each year is priced by the work in it, such as its revenue, transaction volume, accounts and the condition of the records, never by the size of a refund, and there’s no promise of a bigger one.
  3. File electronically. Each return is e-filed once you’ve signed its e-file authorization, for every year the IRS accepts electronically; older years go on paper.
  4. Make sure you can reach them after filing season. The team works year-round, Mon–Fri, 10–7 ET, and if you choose monthly bookkeeping after the catch-up, the same team keeps your books current.
  5. Expect to be asked for records. You get a list of what’s needed, starting with bank and card statements, and each return is built from the rebuilt books.
  6. Never sign a blank return, and review it before you sign. You see each finished return first, can ask about anything that isn’t clear, and sign only then. Nothing is filed without your signature.

Foundedand sold an accounting firm

Brian Catibog founded Cayde after nearly twenty years in accounting, tax and finance. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the I.H. Asper School of Business at the U of M, and leads the firm and the team that works on each file.

As VP Finance at Smack Pet Food Inc., Brian was on the leadership team that helped build Smack Pet Food USA and its U.S. manufacturing facility. That meant setting up the U.S. side from the ground up: registering the business, then its U.S. tax, transfer pricing, payroll and everything payroll requires, and U.S. sales tax. Brian then did the filings and ran the payroll, and dealt directly with the IRS and state tax authorities.

Brian also founded and sold an accounting firm, where his work included cross-border and U.S. tax filings for clients doing business in the United States.

Brian earned the Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in Canada, which later became the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, and held it for ten years before resigning it to focus entirely on catch-up and clean-up work.

He built Cayde for one kind of problem: a business that fell behind on its books and returns and wants to get current, then stay current, without being judged for how it got there.

What doesn’t Cayde do?

Cayde doesn’t do audits or other attest work, doesn’t take on businesses that file only on a personal return, and doesn’t negotiate tax debts.

If your situation needs something on this list, you’ll hear it on the free call, before you’ve committed to anything.

  • Audits, reviews or other attest work. Cayde is not a CPA firm.
  • Businesses that file only on the owner’s personal return (Schedule C). Cayde works with C corporations, S corporations and LLCs taxed as a corporation.
  • Personal returns on their own. An owner’s personal return is handled only alongside a corporate catch-up, and it’s added to the same written quote.
  • Tax-debt settlement, levies, liens or Offers in Compromise. Cayde gets the returns filed; it doesn’t negotiate what’s owed.
  • Representing your company before the IRS. That’s the job of an attorney, a CPA or an enrolled agent, arranged when your situation needs it.

What is Cayde’s U.S. service?

Cayde is not a CPA firm and does not perform audits, reviews or other attest work.
