Behind on corporate taxes? Start here.
Bookkeeping, T2 returns, GST/HST — whether you’re one year behind or ten, we get incorporated businesses caught up and deal with CRA for you once you’ve authorized us. You don’t need anything organized before you call.

Whatever state the books are in, we’ve seen worse.
Most people who call have been putting it off for a while. That’s normal, and there’s no judgement about how it happened.
“I stopped opening the CRA mail.”
Three, five, eight years of envelopes in a drawer. The longer it sits, the bigger it feels, and the bigger it actually gets.
“CRA assessed us for income we never reported.”
That’s usually a notional assessment under s.152(7): CRA’s own estimate when no return was filed. It rarely reflects your expenses, so it’s usually too high.
“Our bookkeeper left halfway through the year.”
Half-reconciled accounts, an undeposited-funds balance nobody can explain, and payroll still running in the background.
“We never filed GST/HST after registering.”
You’ve been collecting it, and CRA knows the account exists. Every quarter that passes adds another return to catch up.
“The shareholder loan is a mess.”
Years of personal spending through the corporate card. It’s fixable, but it has to be untangled before the returns go in.
“The corporation was dissolved, then revived.”
The filing obligations don’t disappear with a dissolution, and neither does the clock running on them.
A short welcome from our founder, Brian Catibog.
Meet the founder
Built by an accountant who’s also run a business.
Brian Catibog founded Cayde after nearly twenty years in accounting and tax. In this short video, Brian explains what happens on the Free Catch-Up Assessment and how Cayde helps corporations get caught up and stay that way.
- Nearly 20
- years in accounting and tax
- 10

The cost of waiting
Filing late isn’t a flat fine. It’s a percentage, and it grows.
CRA’s late-filing penalty on a corporate return is 5% of the unpaid tax, plus 1% for each full month late, up to twelve months. If CRA has sent a demand to file and a late-filing penalty also applied in one of the three previous years, it rises to 10% plus 2% a month, up to twenty months. Interest is charged on top. Move the sliders to see roughly where a corporation stands.
| Year | Months late | Penalty rate | Penalty |
|---|---|---|---|
| FY 2025 | 4 | 9% | $2,250 |
| FY 2024 | 16 | 17% | $4,250 |
| FY 2023 | 28 | 17% | $4,250 |
Estimated late-filing penalties
$10,750
Plus estimated interest
$10,982
An estimate to start a conversation, not a calculation of your account. It assumes a
December 31 year-end, the full year’s tax still unpaid, and every return filed and paid today,
October 31, 2026. Penalties follow ITA 162(1), or 162(2) when the
box is ticked, and stop growing after 12 months (20 for the higher rate). Interest uses CRA’s prescribed
rate for overdue tax in each quarter (7% throughout 2026), compounded
daily. It runs on the tax from three months after year-end (the balance-due date for most small
Canadian-controlled private corporations) and on the penalties from the filing due date. Instalment interest isn’t included.
GST/HST has its own penalty under ETA 280.1. A year with no tax owing carries no late-filing
penalty, but the return is still required, and an unfiled year stays open to reassessment.
How a catch-up works
Four stages. Nothing starts without your sign-off.
-
Talk it through
On your free assessment you tell us what’s outstanding — T2s, GST/HST, payroll, bookkeeping — and what CRA has sent, and we explain how we’d get you caught up.
-
Confirm the scope
You receive a written proposal covering the scope, pricing, terms, the records we’ll need, and a timeline. Work begins once you approve it, with a 50% deposit.
-
Complete the catch-up
The books are rebuilt from bank and card statements, oldest year first, and every outstanding return is prepared and filed. If the scope changes materially, we talk before going further.
-
Stay current
Once you’re caught up, monthly bookkeeping keeps you there. It’s month to month, and you can cancel with 30 days’ notice.

A typical catch-up year$2,000
Catch-ups are priced per year outstanding: typically $2,000 a year for an active corporation, and from $750 for a year with no activity. Transaction volume, the number of accounts and the condition of your records move it from there. You’ll have the price in writing before any work begins.
How pricing worksBeyond the catch-up
Getting caught up is step one. Staying current is the point.
A catch-up clears the backlog. Monthly bookkeeping, tax and payroll keep it from coming back, handled by the same team that already knows your books.

Before you book
Straight answers to the questions people ask first.
Anything else? Call (431) 489-2571 or email info@caydetax.com.
Do I need to be organized before the assessment?
No. Just come ready to tell us what you know is outstanding: which years and filings are behind, and any letters from CRA. Rough answers are fine, and your records don’t need to be sorted.
We’re several years behind. Can you still help?
Yes. Multi-year backlogs are exactly what we do. Tell us which years are behind, and we’ll explain how we’d work through them, oldest year first.
CRA has already contacted us. What should we do?
Bring the letters to the call. If there’s a deadline coming up, call (431) 489-2571 before your appointment so it can be prioritized.
How is the price set?
Per year outstanding. For an active corporation it’s typically $2,000 a year, and a year with no activity (a nil return) starts at $750, before tax. Transaction volume, the number of accounts and the condition of your records move it from there, and your price is in a written proposal before anything begins.
How long does a catch-up take?
It depends on how many periods are outstanding and what shape the records are in. Your written proposal includes a timeline.
Is the assessment really free?
Yes. The call costs nothing, and there’s no obligation to hire us afterwards. You’ll spend 15 minutes with Brian Catibog, our founder.
Can you keep our books once we’re caught up?
Yes. Monthly bookkeeping is available once you’re current. It’s month to month, you can cancel with 30 days’ notice, and it isn’t a condition of the catch-up work.
Do you work with businesses outside Winnipeg?
Yes. Cayde is a virtual firm based in Winnipeg. We work with incorporated businesses across Canada by phone, video and secure file sharing, so there’s no need to visit an office.
