When CRA writes
You don’t have to answer CRA alone.
Demand-to-file letters, notional assessments, collections calls and review requests. Once you’ve authorized us, we deal with CRA on your behalf and replace its estimates with real, supported returns.
What’s included
- Representative authorization on your CRA business account
- A review of every open period and assessment
- Responses to letters and review requests
- Notional assessments replaced with filed returns
- Voluntary disclosure applications, where eligible
- Taxpayer relief requests for penalties and interest
Cayde is an accounting firm, not a law firm. Where a situation calls for legal advice, such as a possible prosecution, speak with a tax lawyer.
How it works
Get authorized
You authorize us on your CRA business account, so we can see the filings, assessments and balances on file.
Review everything on file
Every open period, assessment and piece of correspondence, before anything is said to CRA.
Respond and resolve
Returns filed, letters answered, and relief requested where your situation qualifies.
CRA questions
Can you deal with CRA for us?
Yes, once you authorize us through CRA’s Represent a Client service. You can see or cancel that authorization at any time, and you don’t need to share your own CRA login.
How long do we have to object to an assessment?
For a corporation, a notice of objection is generally due within 90 days of the date on the notice of assessment or reassessment. If a deadline is close, call before your appointment.
Can CRA take money from our bank account?
Yes. For unpaid tax, CRA can send a requirement to pay to your bank, or to customers who owe you money, directing them to pay CRA instead. Dealing with the debt, or arranging a payment plan, before it reaches that point is far easier.
Is the Voluntary Disclosures Program still open if CRA has contacted us?
Often, yes, but with less relief. Since October 2025, an application made after CRA contact can still get up to 100% penalty relief but only 25% interest relief. Once an audit or investigation starts, the program is closed. See our VDP guide.
Can penalties and interest be cancelled?
Sometimes. Under taxpayer relief, CRA can cancel or waive penalties and interest caused by extraordinary circumstances or by its own errors or delays. Financial hardship usually supports interest relief, and only rarely penalty relief. Relief is limited to the ten calendar years before the year you ask.
